Rohu fish is my favorite,sadly we don’t get fresh fish here in Montreal,Everything is Frozen 😦 its been so many months that I ate my favorite dish.So today I thought of making it and this is my mom’s recipe ,this is the way she cooks .Hope you guys will like it.Ting 🙂
Ingredients
- 250 gms rohu fish sliced
- 4 tbsp Oil ( I use mustard oil but you can use veg oil )
- 2 medium sized chopped tomatoes
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard seeds
- 1 tbsp black mustard seeds
- 10-12 garlic pods
- 1 tspn Panch phoran
- 1 tbsp Red chilly powder
- 1 tspn Turmeric powder
- 2-3 green chilies slited
- Chopped coriander
- Salt to taste
- Oil to fry fish
- 2 cups water for gravy
- For marination
- 1/2 tspn turmeric powder
- 1/2 tspn pepper powder
- 1/2 tspn chilly powder
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Salt to taste
Process
- First clean the fish ,remove skin & marinate with the ingredients mentioned above for 10-15 min.
- Now deep fry the fishes till golden brown and keep aside.
- In a blender mix tomatoes,garlic pods,both the mustard seeds ,some water & make a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a Kadai or pan ,add panch phoran ,saute for few seconds.
- Add the puree and fry for 4-5 min in medium flame.
- Add Red chilly powder,Turmeric powder,salt and chilies and cook in low flame till the masala oozes oil.
- Now add chopped corianders and cook for 1 min .
- Add 2 cups of water and mix well ,let it boil for 2-3 min.
- Add fried fishes and let the fish boil in the gravy for another 5 min.
- Serve hot with Rice.
Amazing just in looks, it might be the best.
