Kadai Chicken

 Chicken Kadai is a  North Indian dish noted for its spicy taste and usage of capsicum.Its cooked in a Kadai ( A Kadai is a type of thick, circular, and deep cooking-pot (similar in shape to a wok) used in Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Nepalese cuisine. Traditionally made out of cast iron, kadailook like woks with steeper sides. Today they can be made of stainless steel, copper, and non-stick surfaces, both round and flat-bottomed.)   • 250 gms bonesless Chicken
  • 4 tbsp Oil
  • 2 big onion finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 big Tomato puree
  • Spices Needed
  • 2 green cardamom
  • 2 Cinnamon
  • 1 Mace (Javatri)
  • 1 Big Cardamom
  • 1 big Bay leaves
  • 1 tspn Coriander seeds Coarsley Grounded
  • 1 tbsp Red chilly powder
  • 1 tspn Turmeric powder
  • 1 tspn Black pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1  sliced tomato
  • 1/2 sliced capsicum
  • Salt to taste


  1. Heat oil in a  Kadai or pan ,add cardamoms, Cinnamon, Mace, Big black cardamom & Coriander seeds , saute for a min.
  2. Add chopped onion and roast on high flame till onion gets brown, then add ginger garlic paste,saute for a Min or 2 .
  3. Add tomato puree and cook for 2-3 min .
  4. Add  black pepper, red chilly powder, Turmeric,Coriander ,cumin powder and  salt cook for 3-4 min.
  5. Add chicken pieces and 1/2 cup water if needed cook till chicken is cooked .
  6. Now in a separate a pan, put 1 tbsp oil, fry the chopped capsicum and tomatoes.
  7. Garnish the cooked chicken with fried capsicum and tomatoes.
  8. Serve hot with Chapati or Rice.
